## When to Switch Personas

### During a Conversation

You might start with Companion for general discussion, then switch to:

* **Coding Expert** when you hit a technical problem
* **Brutally Honest** when you need a reality check
* **Writer** when drafting content

### For Different Projects

Some projects benefit from specific personas:

* Technical projects: Coding Expert
* Creative projects: Writer
* Learning projects: Patient Teacher

### Based on Feedback Needs

* Need encouragement: Companion or Patient Teacher
* Need hard truths: Brutally Honest
* Need efficiency: Executive Assistant

## Persona and Memory

Your memories work with all personas. Switching personas does not affect what Flast remembers about you. The same Always memories are included regardless of which persona you use.

## Experimenting with Personas

Try asking the same question to different personas. You will get different perspectives:

* **Companion** might explore implications
* **Brutally Honest** might point out flaws
* **Coding Expert** might focus on implementation
* **Patient Teacher** might break it into steps

This can help you see a problem from multiple angles.

<Note>
  If you find yourself switching personas frequently, consider whether your default should change. The right default reduces friction.
